Watch: New ‘DuckTales’ Cast Sings Theme Song, Including David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck

     December 16, 2016

In case you haven’t heard, Disney is reviving the popular 90s animated series DuckTales. You know, the show with the theme song you absolutely can’t get out of your head (you’re welcome). The show is finally materializing and today, Disney XD took a delightful route to announcing the new voice cast. Instead of simply listing the actors and actresses who will lend their pipes to the DuckTales reboot, the network has released a video in which said performers sing the classic DuckTales theme song. So if you’ve ever wanted to see David Tennant hit those high notes as Scrooge McDuck, you’re in luck!

Yes indeed, the former Doctor Who star leads the voice cast of DuckTales as the wealthy patriarch of the McDuck family. And joining him is a slew of talented comedic performers that include Danny Pudi (Community), Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation), and Bobby Moynihan as Huey, Dewey, and Louie. But Moynihan isn’t the only SNL cast member in DuckTales as Beck Bennett plays Launchpad McQuack, while Toks Olagundoye (The Neighbors) voices housekeeper Mrs. Beakley and Kate Micucci (Raising Hope) will bring Webby Vanderquack to life.

So yeah, this is a delightful way to end the week. Disney XD adds that a slew of other familiar faces will be popping up in the show, including Donald Duck, Flintheart Glomgold, Gyro Gearloose, Duckworth, Gizmoduck, Magica DeSpell, Gladstone Gander, and Ma Beagle, although voice casting for those roles has yet to be announced.

The original DuckTales ran from 1987 to 1990 and was brought to life in the Disney themes parks at Walt Disney World and Disney Land, so for folks who grew up on these characters, it’s neat to see them being introduced to a whole new generation.
