Final Oscar Predictions: Who Will Win, Should Win, and Should’ve Been Nominated

     February 26, 2016

Alright, pencils down—it’s time to make some decisions. After months of covering the Oscar race here on Collider, we’ve finally arrived at Oscar weekend. How naïve we were, way back in September, when The Danish Girl looked like a major threat to the race and Steve Jobs was all anyone could talk about. But then came the delightful surprises, from the pure entertainment of The Martian to the impeccable craftsmanship of Spotlight to the unbridled emotion of Room. There were ups and downs and swerves as each studio vied for its own spot among the top nominees, and while some fell by the wayside, others gained a second wind and surged to nomination glory.

But the ballots are in, the envelopes are sealed, and we’ll find out who comes away with the various prizes on Sunday night. Before then, it’s time for me to settle in and put down my final predictions for how this crazy race will shake out. I’m fairly confident in most of these picks, but Best Picture—as ever—remains a bit of a doozy. Without further ado, I present to you my final nominations for the 88th Academy Awards.
