Ouija Board the Movie? I Totally Knew This Would Happen

Hasbro wants Universal Pictures to make a major motion picture out of their ‘supernatural’ board game “Ouija Board.” Michael Bay‘s Platinum Dunes has been hired to produce the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Platinum Dunes is known for remaking classic horror films – they are currently in the process of doing God knows what with Polanski’s “Rosemary’s Baby.” For Hasbro, adapting the Ouija Board is part of their six year deal with Universal to develop Hasbro-related film content – that means a “you sunk my Battleship” movie be on the horizon.

No specific plot for “Ouija” was revealed – though if my own memory of the game serves, the film will feature somebody’s “friend” manipulating the viewfinder and then totally denying it. One thing Hasbro and Platinum Dunes would confirm – the Ouija Board will not come to life in the film. Well that’s consistent anyway – I sat around that board quite a bit when I was 12 and the only time it ever came to life was when somebody coughed.

I would normally include a link to The Hollywood Reporter story at this point, to see why I haven’t read this.
