paddington-movie-release-dateThe biggest bit of news in this change to the calendar is the move to Christmas Day for Paddington.  Starring Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, and Nicole Kidman, with Colin Firth voicing the title bear, the Paul King-directed film will open against The Weinstein Company’s own Tim Burton-directed film Big EyesSteve Pink’s Hot Tub Time Machine 2Rob Marshall’s live-action Disney film Into the WoodsAngelina Jolie’s Unbroken, and Cameron Crowe’s as-of-yet untitled project.  Lots of competition there, but perhaps the family-focused feature will win out.

Also starring Lake BellThe Coup follows an American family living in Southeast Asia who get caught in the middle of a violent revolution. They must flee to safety while being hunted by a murderous rebel leader.  Production is scheduled to start in Thailand on October 31st.

Here’s the official synopsis for Hector and the Search for Happiness:

Simon Pegg plays Hector, an eccentric yet irresistible London psychiatrist in crisis: his patients are just not getting any happier!  He’s going nowhere.  Then one day, armed with buckets of courage and an almost child-like curiosity, Hector breaks out of his sheltered vacuum of a life into a global quest to find out if happiness exists.  More importantly, if it exists for Hector.  And so begins a colorful, exotic, dangerous and hysterical journey.
