Awesome news for Peter Dinklage fans, one of his long-gestating passion projects is finally moving forward. Director Adam Shankman (Hairspray) has come onboard to helm O’ Lucky Day, which was written by Andrew Dodge (Bad Words). Friday the 13th scribes Mark Swift and Damian Shannon are currently working on a new draft. Paramount and Disruption Entertainment are aiming for an April shoot date.
Per Deadline, Dinklage will play “a con man who may or may not be a real Leprechaun, but who certainly passes himself off as one.” Shannon & Swift originated the material, first pitching it in 2012 before Dodge penned the original draft. Disruption’s Mary Parent and Cale Boyter are producing.
Dinklage has just wrapped Game of Thrones Season 5 so a spring start date makes sense to get him wrapped before Season 6 gets underway. Shannon & Swift also have a sci-fi film waiting in the wings at Skydance and an original horror film at New Line, both of those concepts are under wraps. Dodge currently has the comedy Crockpot in development at Spitfire Pictures.
Peter Dinklage is one of our best actors, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what he can pull off in a studio starring vehicle.
