Good news and bad news for fans of Don Coscarelli‘s Phantasm movie series: The trailer for the fifth film Phantasm: Ravager is here! While it’s great to finally see the Tall Man Angus Scrimm return, this will mark the late actor’s last film role. In other bittersweet news, the fifth film will be the final chapter for the Phantasm franchise, one that closes out the trans-dimensional journey of Reggie (Reggie Bannister), Mike (A. Michael Baldwin), and Jody (Bill Thornbury) in their quest to stop evil in its tracks.
After word that Well Go USA Entertainment acquired North American rights for Coscarelli’s long-running series, fans were promised an all-new 4K restoration of the original 1979 cult classic Phantasm: Remastered, plus never-before-seen HD restorations of 1994’s Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead and 1998’s Phantasm IV: Oblivion, along with the debut of the new film. This remastered Phantasm series will appear across cable/digital platforms starting October 7th, while a Blu-ray/DVD Collector’s Edition Set will be released later this year. Phantasm: Remastered and Phantasm: Ravager will land on Digital HD and VOD a few days earlier on October 4th before both open in theaters on October 7th.

Here’s the synopsis for Phantasm: Ravager:
For 37 years, audiences have followed small town friends Reggie, Mike, and Jody in their quest to stop the evil, dimension-hopping schemes of The Tall Man (Angus Scrimm in his final performance) and his armada of killer Sentinel Spheres. Now, Don Coscarelli’s acclaimed horror/sci-fi Phantasm franchise comes to a close in a truly epic finale, a multi-dimensional battle across multiple timelines, alien planets, and altered realities, where no less than the fate of Earth is on the line.
