Phil Lord and Chris Miller Developing Time Travel Sitcom for Fox

     October 21, 2015

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are one of the busiest pairs in the industry. Now they’re adding one more project to their long list that already includes, a sequel to The LEGO Movie, their Han Solo Star Wars anthology film, and another Jump Street. The golden children are heading back to the small screen to tackle time travel in a new comedy series.

TV Insider reports that Lord and Miller are developing In Time for Fox. Dads and The Grinder writer Julius Sharpe is helping them develop the project, which is said to “follow the exploits of three friends with mundane lives in the present who wind up experiencing the adventure of time travel.” In Time is a single-camera sitcom, and Fox has committed to a put pilot, which makes it more likely that this series will be produced — otherwise the network will have to pay a penalty fee.

No other information on the show has been offered up at this time, but Lord and Miller are enough to get me intrigued. They found massive success on TV already with The Last Man On Earth starring Will Forte. The show, also for Fox, was nominated for three Emmys — including writing, directing, and Forte’s leading man performance — and the network green lit a second season back in April.

Other TV projects Lord and Miller have in the works include the animated Son of Zahn with Jason Sudeikis, an adaptation of the popular podcast Serial, and the previously announced remake of The Greatest American Action Hero. This is on top of the animated Spider-Man movie they’re developing for Sony, as well as producing the Andy Samberg comedy Storks and Chris McKay’s LEGO Batman.

Where these guys find time for all of their projects is beyond me, but I won’t question it if it means I’ll get more from them.
