How about a little a cappella with your beer and BBQ this 4th of July? The sequel to the fall 2012 hit, Pitch Perfect, is still over 10 months away, but two Treblemakers took a moment to indulge us with some sweet, sweet harmony in honor of the holiday. The boys had a habit of stealing the spotlight from the Barden Bellas in the first film and now with Jesse (Skylar Astin) and Benji (Ben Platt) leading the group, there’s no doubt the same will be true in round two.
Adam DeVine is back as Bumper in Pitch Perfect 2, but it’s hard to imagine him going right back to being Treblemaker #1 after ditching the guys for John Mayer, and especially after Jesse and Benji got the chance to show off their skills, too. Longing for a little of that magic? Hit the jump to catch the Pitch Perfect 2 video of Astin and Platt singing “America the Beautiful” a cappella.
Even though the Treblemakers are the standouts right now, the Bellas have been very busy sending out behind-the-scenes tweets and posts from the Louisiana set of the film. On June 20th, the shooting schedule must have involved a pivotal performance with a very large audience because a number of key cast members took to social media to talk about the crowd:

Even though Elizabeth Banks is busy making her feature directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2, she’s clearly still got more than enough time to share photos and updates straight from set, one of which confirms that DeVine is officially wrapped:

Pitch Perfect 2 is currently making its way towards a May 15, 2015 debut, but we’re still very light on story details. The fact that Astin, Platt, DeVine, Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp and a number of other main players from the first film are back does say something about where the story could be heading, but the only concrete information that’s popped up thus far is what Banks told The Huffington Post back in February; “All I can say right now is that they will be graduating seniors this time around, rather than incoming freshmen.” We’ll let you know as soon as additional plot points emerge.
