Production on the McG directed “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” has begun, but casting decisions are still being announced. The latest member of John Connor’s inner-circle to be announced is the Chicago-born rapper/actor known as Common. Common will play one of the resistance fighters who align with the adult John Connor (Christian Bale) to fight the mechanized onslaught.

Common (formerly known as Common Sense after he was known as Lonnie Lynn Jr.) has been expanding his acting resume, with co-starring turns in “Smokin’ Aces,” “American Gangster” and, most recently, “Street Kings.” He was rumored to be playing the Green Lantern in the JLA film, but that is obviously not working out.

But who needs green tights when you’ve got Terminators to kill? Common will also kick ass with Angelina Jolie later this summer in “Wanted.” I guess casting agents love vegan rappers. Or he’s talented – one of the two.

Ice Cube is TOTALLY jealous here.
