TWC-Dimension has released a new trailer for the upcoming horror film Regression. From filmmaker Alejandro Amenábar, the director of the brilliant and underrated thriller The Others, this thriller takes place in Minnesota in 1990 and stars Ethan Hawke as a detective who investigates the case of a young woman (Emma Watson) who accuses her father (David Dencik) of an “unspeakable crime.” She has trouble remembering exactly what happened, so Hawke and his team attempt to help her “regress” to recover the memories. The investigation eventually leads to uncovering a horrifying nationwide mystery.
This trailer is fantastic, and it shows that genuinely great horror doesn’t have to be milked from jump scares or people in goofy masks. Amenábar lets the atmosphere and performances do all the work, and the result is something that’s unsettling, intriguing, and kind of horrifying. This thing looks great, and as a fan of all involved, I’m really looking forward to it.
