About this time last year, we were getting regular social media updates from the cast of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter as they filmed the purported final installment in director Paul W.S. Anderson’s wildly successful zombie/mutant apocalypse franchise. And now we’re finally about to get a first look at at the film when the first trailer drops next week.
The Final Chapter reunites series stars Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter as the ass-kicking heroines, Alice and Claire Redfield. The pair is joined by series newcomers Shawn Roberts, Orange is the New Black breakout Ruby Rose, Eoin Macken, William Levy, Fraser James, and Japanese model and personality, Rola. For The Final Chapter, the franchise is heading back to its roots, picking up immediately after Resident Evil: Retribution in Alice’s quest to stop the Red Queen from eliminating the few human survivors.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is set to arrive in theaters January 27, 2017 and since trailers for trailers are the new norm, check out a first look below thanks to a brief trailer announcement video.
Here’s the official Resident Evil: The Final Chapter synopsis:

As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.
