First ‘Roadies’ Trailer: Go on Tour with Cameron Crowe’s Showtime Series

     February 12, 2016

In the past year, I rewatched Almost Famous and it still holds up beautifully. It doesn’t fetishize the world of rock-and-roll, but it also has a deep and unabashed loved for it and the people who make it a reality. It’s been a long time since writer-director Cameron Crowe graced us with that level of greatness, but perhaps he’ll have a return to form with his first series, Roadies.

The first trailer has gone online, and it provides flashes of the earnestness that made Almost Famous such a hit. The show “gives an insider’s look at the reckless, romantic, funny and often poignant lives of a committed group of “roadies” who live for music and the de facto family they’ve formed along the way. The series chronicles the rock world through the eyes of music’s unsung heroes and pays homage to the backstage workers who put the show on the road while touring the United States for the successful arena-level group, The Staton-House Band.” Hopefully it all comes together and will be so good we all collectively agree to forget that Aloha exists.

Check out the Roadies trailer below. The series premieres Sunday, June 26th At 10 PM ET/PT on Showtime, and stars Luke Wilson, Carla Gugino, Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Peter Cambor, Colson Baker, and Ron White. Winnie Holzman (My So-Called Life, Wicked) serves as writer and executive producer, along with Emmy winners J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk (Lost), and Len Goldstein (Hart of Dixie).
