‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ Trailer: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again

     July 21, 2016

Fox’s two-hour rendition of The Rocky Horror Picture Show will debut this October, and Laverne Cox is already shivering with antici….pation! The Orange Is the New Black actress features as the new Frank-N-Furter, a.k.a. the “sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania,” and she snags the spotlight again in a new trailer for the television event.

In the footage, we see the cast — including a special appearance from the original Frank-N-Furter, Tim Curry — performing the iconic musical as a film within a film. The audience watches along in a theater while reciting the lines and interacting with the scenes and songs, like the catchy “Time Warp.”

Elsewhere, we see Penny Dreadful’s Dorian Gray, Reeve Carney, as handyman Riff Raff and Staz Nair as the sexy hunky Rocky Horror creation. Watch the trailer below.

The original Rocky Horror debuted in 1975 and centered on sweethearts Brad and Janet, who, stranded in the pouring rain with a flat tire, discover a creepy mansion where they meet transvestite scientist her eerie housemates.

The remake, directed by Kenny Ortega, will be part of this weekend’s Comic-Con happenings in San Diego for Sunday’s Fox panels. Victoria Justice, Ryan McCartan, Adam Lambert, Christina Milian, Annaleigh Ashford, Ben Vereen, and Ivy Levan also feature among the new cast.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, a brand-new reimagining of the cult-classic midnight movie 40 years in the making, is set to air October 2016. Sweethearts JANET (Victoria Justice, “Victorious”) and BRAD (Ryan McCartan, “Liv & Maddie,” “Heathers the Musical”) stumble upon flirtatious mad scientist DR. FRANK-N-FURTER’s (Emmy Award-nominated actress Laverne Cox, “Orange is the New Black”) bizarre abode during his annual Transylvanian science convention. The two-hour event also features Emmy Award nominee Tim Curry, the original Frank-N-Furter.
