‘Rogue One’ Featurette Teases ‘A New Hope’ Connection

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story marks a new challenge for the Star Wars franchise. While it’s taking place in a familiar universe and could be considered a prequel of sorts, it’s the first Star Wars film to break away from the main saga and tell a story that doesn’t involve Jedi. For those unfamiliar with Rogue One, the story takes place before the events of A New Hope and centers on a group of rebels who are sent to retrieve the plans for the Death Star. They are led by Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) whose father (Mads Mikkelsen) was forced by the Empire to build the destructive space station.

Disney has released a new featurette for Rogue One that has director Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and the cast talking about the set-up for the plot and that while this is technically an ensemble film, it’s an ensemble led by a strong female character. There’s also some new footage in this featurette if you want to get another glimpse of what will likely be one of the biggest movies of the year.

Check out the Rogue One featurette below. The film opens December 16th and also stars Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, and Forest Whitaker.
