A decade may have passed since the original release of Richard Linklater’s hilarious and beloved SCHOOL OF ROCK, but its exuberant spirit will resonate with first time viewers today as it did in 2003.  In a career-defining performance, Jack Black plays Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star turned imposter substitute teacher with designs to turn a fifth grade classroom of prep school overachievers into a tried and true rock ‘n’ roll band. Black is truly in his element as the rock-savvy wild man, which is no surprise as the role was penned specifically for him by screenwriter and co-star Mike White, but what is most delightful is watching him shine equally in poignant scenes as he does in the film’s many outrageous comedic moments. Rounding out the ensemble are comedy veterans Joan Cusack and Sarah Silverman, as well as a flock of amazingly talented (now college-age) youngsters. Directed by Richard Linklater; written by Mike White; director of photography, Rogier Stoffers; edited by Sandra Adair; music by Craig Wedren; production designer, Jeremy Conway; produced by Scott Rudin; released by Paramount Pictures. Running time: 110 minutes. This film is rated PG-13, and beloved by film fans of all ages!
