Seth Rogen Confirms He’s Not in THIS IS FORTY, Says JAY AND SETH VS. THE APOCALYPSE Starts Shooting in February

     September 7, 2011

Judd Apatow is currently deep into production on his Knocked Up spinoff tentatively titled This is Forty. While the film focuses on Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann’s characters from the 2009 comedy, many wonder which other characters would be popping up in the pseudo-sequel. Charlyne Yi and Jason Segel are both confirmed to appear, but Seth Rogen recently revealed that his character doesn’t show up in the film:

“Yeah I’m not in it, but I went to visit the set and it looked hilarious. It was a good choice, honestly, because I think it would’ve confused people. I’m really looking forward to seeing it; I thought the script was unbelievably funny.”

While it could’ve been cool to see where Rogen’s character is now in relation to Rudd and Mann, it’s not like the actor is dire need of projects. In fact, Rogen also revealed that a long-gestating project set to be his directorial debut, Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse, is actually gearing up to start shooting in February. Hit the jump for more.

seth-rogen-imageBack in 2007, Rogen and Jay Baruchel released a short film/fake trailer entitled Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse that found the titular Jay and Seth surviving the End of Days and tasked with living as two of the last people on Earth. It was announced that the short would be expanded into a full-length feature film, but it kept getting pushed back in lieu of the actors’ Apatow-influenced Hollywood breakouts.

When talking with about his non-involvement with This is Forty, Rogen revealed that production on Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse will finally commence in February, adding that the “oddly personal” flick now involves more than just two people:

“It’s now much more than just Jay and Seth — there’s many other people vs. the apocalypse now. It’s gonna be crazy.”

The actor also confirmed that he’ll be co-directing the film with his writing partner Evan Goldberg, marking the duo’s directorial debut. I was a big fan of the short, so I’m definitely anticipating the feature. If you haven’t seen it before, here’s the NSFW short Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse:
