Watch: ‘Spider-Man’ Video Game Trailer Reveals First Look at Upcoming Story for PS4

     June 14, 2016

The big surprise has dropped at E3, True Believers. Spider-Man is web-slinging into the video game world. Marvel and Sony jointly announced the debut of a new Spider-Man video game in the works, while simultaneously debuting the first look trailer online.

Tom Holland recently made his debut into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Peter Parker, a.k.a. Underoos, in Captain America: Civil War. With his performance came a brand-new suit, which, for the most part, makes its transition into the gaming world. There are some slight alterations, of course, the most glaring being the white Spider-Man logo.

However, Marvel confirms that this is not the Spider-Man from the films. This is “a brand new and authentic Spider-Man story,” reads the trailer’s description, which adds, “This is an experienced Peter Parker who’s more masterful at fighting big crime in New York City. At the same time he’s struggling to balance his chaotic personal life and career while the fate of nine million New Yorkers rests upon his shoulders.”

The game does not have an official title, nor release date, but we know it’ll be made exclusively available for PS4 users. Watch the Spider-Man video game trailer below.

What’s more enticing than the crystal clear graphics and the concept of a new action-adventure for the vigilante from Queens, New York, is the improvisation. Spider-Man is all about his think-on-his-toes mentality, and Marvel promises to make that feature in this new game. As we see in the trailer, Spider-Man can trample through restaurants and break through glass in order to get his man, and squash enemies by leaping from afar.

According to the official description from Marvel Gaming:

Starring the world’s most iconic Super Hero, Spider-Man PS4 (working title) features the acrobatic abilities, improvisation and web-slinging that the wall-crawler is famous for, while also introducing elements never-before-seen in a Spider-Man game. From traversing with parkour and utilizing the environment, to new combat and blockbuster set pieces, it’s Spider-Man unlike any you’ve played before.

A release date has yet to be announced, but Marvelites have the official go ahead to freak out.
