Spike Lee in Early Talks to Direct Justin Timberlake in Neil Bogart Biopic SPINNING GOLD

     October 30, 2013

Justin Timberlake has long been attached to play infamous record executive Neil Bogart in the biopic Spinning Gold, but now the project looks like it’s moving closer to reality as a big name director is eyeing the film.  THR reports that Spike Lee is in early talks to take the helm of the film, which chronicles Bogart’s rise from dirt-poor Jewish kid from Brooklyn to a multimillionaire who helped define 70s pop culture.  Bogart shepherded the careers of artists ranging from Kiss to The Village People to Gladys Knight, and the music-centered project would certainly make for an interesting choice of material by Lee.

Lee most recently directed the remake of the South Korean thriller Oldboy, which opens in theaters next month.  In addition to starring as Bogart in the film, Timberlake is also producing Spinning Gold.
