Shoot First: Han Solo’s Blaster up for Auction, but It Will Cost You a Lot of Credits

     December 3, 2013

Last week, the titular statue from The Maltese Falcon sold for over $4 million.  It seems like a high price tag until you consider that the Maltese Falcon is the stuff dreams are made of.  If you’re wealthy and still in the movie memorabilia market, you may want to turn your attention to a galaxy far, far away because Han Solo’s blaster is up for auction.  It’s the blaster from The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, so it’s not the one used to kill Greedo.  It’s also not the live-fire version used for close-ups.  But it was used in Cloud City and the Battle of Endor, so it’s clearly still got some value.  However, if you want it in your collection, you’re going to have to have serious change.  The starting bid is $200,000 and it’s estimated to go as high as $300,000.
