Disney Registers STRANGE MAGIC Domain Name; Could it be Connected to FROZEN?

     November 6, 2014

In addition to registering a domain name for the new Star Wars: Episode VII title, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney also snagged some for something called Strange Magic.  What is it?  There have never been any reports on a Strange Magic project over at Disney, so we can’t know for sure, but based on the domain names the studio went for, it’s clear that it’s a film: strangemagic-thefilm.com, strangemagic-themovie.com, strangemagicfilm.com and strangemagicmovie.com.

There’s also another little detail that could suggest Strange Magic may be associated with the budding Frozen franchise.  Hit the jump for more on that.

News of the domain name acquisitions comes from Stitch Kingdom with the outlet also suggesting that Strange Magic could possibly be the Frozen sequel.  Now, of course, Disney hasn’t announced a Frozen sequel yet, but considering the film took in well over $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office and has amassed an absolutely rabid fan base, it’d be surprising if Disney wasn’t at least considering it.  And if that is the case, running with the title Strange Magic isn’t out of the realm of possibility.  As Stitch Kingdom points out, “strange magic” is referenced twice in the film, once by Grand Pabbie and once by the Duke of Weselton.

Again, this is just one big guess, but if Disney were to announce a Frozen sequel, I wouldn’t be surprised if it were connected to this.  Until that happens we’ve still got that Frozen short film, Frozen Fever, due in the spring of 2015 and the Frozen musical in the works as well.
