Task Force X, a.k.a. the Suicide Squad, is making a return to Arrow in this season’s upcoming 17th episode, “Suicidal Tendencies.”
According to ET, Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), head of A.R.G.U.S., will return alongside Cupid (Amy Gumenick) and Deadshot (Michael Rowe). No Bronze Tiger though, or Shrapnel (for obvious reasons).
There will also be a brand-new character introduced to the series: Senator Cray (Steven Culp), a corrupt politician who (according to the comics) uses Task Force X for personal and professional gain. In Arrow‘s version, he will also be part of a rescue operation for the “Republic of Kasnia” (a philanthropic cover, mayhaps?)
Arrow‘s last Suicide Squad episode was a definite hit, and given the huge amount of buzz going on regarding the upcoming DC Suicide Squad film, the return of these characters should be big. That will hopefully help Arrow‘s ratings, which have remained steady since its return from hiatus, but are nothing spectacular.
So expect some confrontations with Diggle, and possibly a new wrinkle (thanks to Cupid) in the latest Olicty turmoil that could lead to a twisted romance (because of course!)
Meanwhile, there are more shakeups coming to Starling City. According to THR, Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer) and Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak) will be taking a trip to Central City, and guest starring on The Flash later this season for another crossover episode. The episode, titled “All-Star Team-Up,” will feature Ray bonding with the nerds — particularly Cisco — over the tech at STAR labs. It may also open the door for a spin-off revolving around Ray Palmer, which the CW has previously confirmed as a possibly.
Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
