‘Suicide Squad’: Cara Delevingne Stuns as Enchantress in New Image

     October 27, 2015

You’ve probably heard of The Joker and Harley Quinn, but of all the major players in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, casual fans might know the least about Enchantress. That’s where actor Cara Delevingne comes in. Not only does she play the super-powered DC Comics sorceress, she’ll also star as the mild-mannered freelance artist, June Moone.

As part of Empire Magazine’s feature on all things Suicide Squad, Delevingne shared some insight into her characters, both her vulnerable human side and the difficult-to-control magical entity that exists within her. Additionally, Ayer has revealed a new look at Delevingne as Enchantress on one of Empire’s alternate covers, similar in style to the recently released one featuring Jared Leto’s Joker.

First up, here’s Enchantress revealed in all her mystical glory:

Shedding some light on her mysterious characters on the titular team, Delevingne talked about playing both the role of June Moone and Enchantress :

“June is an adventure seeker who’s always wanted some excitement,” she explains. “And she gets what she wished for, but in a terrible way. At the start of the movie she discovers a cavern and finds…something…within.”

Don’t worry, you don’t have to wait until next August to find out what that “something” is, because we know that June soon becomes possessed by Enchantress:

“She’s an ancient sorceress. A feral being. She’s been trapped for so long and know she’s finally let out.”

This dual role required two very different mindsets for Delevingne’s characters. Much like Leto’s prep for playing The Joker, she relied heavily on music to get the right tone:

“I’d gather the accent, which is deeper and posher than June’s. And I’d blast Nick Cave’s Red Right Hand, that song about the devil. Also a lot of Megadeth. Just evil stuff.”

So if you want to complete your Enchantress costume before Halloween, make sure to enter a room to “Red Right Hand” and you should be in good shape.
