Movie Talk: ‘Suicide Squad’ Video (Spoiler) Review

     August 6, 2016

Suicide Squad has finally hit theaters and the Collider Movie Talk crew is back with their spoiler-filled review of writer/director David Ayer’s DC Comics Adaptation. This is the third official film in the DC Extended Universe, following Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but switches gears by focusing on the villains for a change. Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez) and more are enlisted by one Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) to help thwart a metahuman threat in exchange for commuted sentences.

The film has landed with a divisive thud at theaters, box-office aside, because of the not-so-favorable reviews from critics and fans alike. With reports of trouble behind the scenes leading up to the release, many now wonder if it’s because of the fallout both critically and financially with Batman v Superman. Did they do extensive reshoots to fix the tone because of the dour mood set up in B v S? Was David Ayer really rushed into completing a draft of the film in just six weeks time? Did Warner Brothers test two different cuts with audiences? But most important of all, did the final cut of the film live up to expectations and will it save the DCEU?

Well, it’s time to get in deep to find out. Join the Collider Video team of John Campea, Jon Schnepp, Mark Ellis, Dennis Tzeng, and Perri Nemiroff as they weigh in with their thoughts. This will be an in-depth conversation that will spoil parts of the movie. So if you haven’t seen the movie yet, turn away now – watch the movie – and then head on back here to check out this no-holds-barred look at the Worst, Heroes, Ever in Suicide Squad.
