More DC series on the air means more DC characters from deep in the annals to choose from, and it looks one of Supergirl’s first threats will be in regards to the Red Tornado. Iddo Goldberg (Tut) will play the character, who CBS describes as, “the most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City — including the people Supergirl cares about most.”
Remember last week when I cautioned CBS about releasing too much about Supergirl? Like maybe the less we know, the better? (Not because it’s going to be terrible, but because the way it’s being presented ahead of time is not doing it many favors). This has been reinforced by this Red Tornado image, which looks like a cosplay version of The Avengers’ Vision (and not a great cosplay version, either).
Now, indeed there are going to be things like color grading and VFX and other things that will probably make this look a little different onscreen, but this is also an official image, so it feels like it should be representative of what we’ll be seeing. Then again, remember that Quicksilver cover image fiasco from X-Men? And then how rad it all turned out? So of course it’s prudent to reserve final judgement. But at the same time … what do you guys think?
Supergirl, starring Melissa Benoist, Mechad Brooks, Calista Flockhart, David Harewood and Chyler Leigh premieres October 26th at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.
