TALES OF HALLOWEEN Trailer Is Packed with Horror Staples and Creature Creations

     July 15, 2015

tales-of-hallowee-sliceIf, like me, you’re the kind of person who keeps a running countdown until the next Halloween (119 days to go, as of today), you’ll probably be just as stoked as I am to check out this trailer for the latest horror anthology Tales of Halloween. The film chronicles one night in “a suburban American town terrorized by ghouls, aliens, and killers on one Halloween night”, through ten segments from eleven genre directors, including Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, The Descent) and Lucky McKee (May, The Woman).

As for the cast? It’s utterly packed with a familiar faces and horror staples including Lin Shaye, Noah Segan, Pat Healy, Pollyannna McIntosh, Marc Senter and Kristina Klebe, as well as cameos from genre legends Joe Dante, John Landis, Mick Garris, Stuart Gordon, Adrienne Barbeau, and Barry Bostwick. Check out the full trailer below.

I like what I’m seeing here. There’s a variety of iconic Halloween monsters and characters teased in this trailer – witches, Jack-o-Lanterns, silent stalkers, silly costumes, and a couple excellent-looking original creature effects that I can’t quite put a name on. This is clearly a film made by genre fans for genre fans. Do I spy a candy branded “Carpenters”? Anthologies are hit or miss, but Halloween is a night full of endless possibilities for stories of bloodshed, mayhem, and mischief. Here’s hoping Tales of Halloween can live up to the king of Halloween anthology horror, Trick ‘r Treat, or at least provide an enjoyable stop until we finally get Trick ‘r Treat 2. Only 119 days to go…time to start working on some costumes.
