Always doin’ it for the ‘gram? You might want to rethink that after watching the first trailer for The 16th Episode, the horror film recently acquired by Gravitas Ventures, which finds a trio of YouTubers wrestling with literal and metaphorical demons when they visit the mythical town of Casablanca and wind up trapped in a satanic ritual — and the views just come pouring in.
The 16th Episode made the festival rounds in recent years under the title “Little Horror Movie”, and earning a steady string of positive reviews; something you don’t see too often for indie found-footage films. “THE 16TH EPISODE is a special gem you won’t want to miss,” said Nick Royak from Gravitas Ventures, announcing the acquisition. “Its locations and performances are something really unique in the independent horror space. Jerome Cohen-Olivar flexes his creative muscles on this piece by using real mythology as a world-building tool and lures you in with a rich, exotic visual style. We are so excited to bring Jerome’s new take on found footage films to the big screen and various platforms, which will have audiences at the edge of their seats.”
Written and directed by Jérôme Cohen-Olivar, The 16th Episode stars Cody Heuer, Rebecca Ramon, Einar Kuusk. Gravitas Ventures will release the film in theaters, on digital, and On Demand on June 28, 2019. You can pre-order the film over on iTunes and watch our exclusive trailer debut below.
