New Poster for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Teases Peter Parker’s Greatest Battle

     December 17, 2013

Following the barrage of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 content that Sony Pictures released a few weeks ago, the studio has now unveiled a new theatrical poster for the Marc Webb-helmed sequel.  While the tagline for the first film teased the “untold story” of Spidey’s origin, the sequel’s tagline focuses on the forces working against Peter Parker as this new poster reads: “His Greatest Battle Begins May 2”.  In the follow-up, Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker finds himself surrounded by antagonistic forces as Jamie Foxx’s Electro emerges, Parker’s old friend Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) returns to New York City, and everyone seems to have a connection to the shady goings-on at OsCorp.  With Venom and Sinister Six movies on tap to be released immediately following The Amazing Spider-Man 3, it’ll be interesting to see how the expanded universe is set up in this upcoming sequel.

Hit the jump to take a look at the new poster.  The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in international theaters beginning April 16, 2014 and will open domestically on May 2, 2014.  The film will be available in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
