‘The Blacklist’ Spin-off Series Ordered by NBC

     May 15, 2016

Amidst the slew of major cancellations from TV networks recently, there was one bright spot for fans of NBC’s The Blacklist. While the network’s hit drama starring James Spader and Megan Boone is currently renewed through season four, the producers are capitalizing on the show’s success by greenlighting a spin-off series. Titled The Blacklist: Redemption, the new series will feature Famke Janssen, Ryan Eggold, Edi Gathegi and Tawny Cypress as the characters they’ve already inhabited on the core series.

Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath serve as writers and executive producers on the spin-off series with John Fox and John Davis acting as executive producers. Michael Dinner (Justified) directs the pilot episode, which isn’t a traditional pilot but rather the first episode of the planned series. The Blacklist will return to NBC for season four this September with the hopes that they’ll resolve the shocking events that concluded season three. There’s no concrete release date information for the spin-off as of yet, but it will debut during the midseason in early 2017.

Now, as they team up to employ their unique skills and resources in a dangerous world of deadly criminals, Tom begins his own covert mission to find out more about his shadowy past.
