Plenty of interesting things have been happening in The Flash Season 2, not the least of which being Barry Allen’s (Grant Gustin) dating life with Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten) and a few returning romances for our young hero. The big news, of course, has been the big rift that brought new speedsters into Century City, and also caused the original Firestorm (Robbie Amell) to martyr himself for the good of the city and his wife, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker). The most imposing villain to appear through this rift was not, as one might think, the hulking land-based shark-man-giant that squeezed Barry like a stress ball, but rather the nefarious Zoom, who has been gleaned in blurry images throughout this season, mostly involving Earth-2 hero Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears), another science-nerd-cum-speedster.
Though he’s been talked about an awful lot throughout this season, we’ve never really seen Zoom in full form, but that ends right now. In anticipation of next week’s episode, entitled “Enter Zoom,” The CW has released some very clear images of what the villain looks like in the, er, flesh, if we’re going to call it that. The character will be played by Tony Todd, a name that will be familiar to horror hounds and B-movie fans alike from movies as varied as Candyman, The Rock, and, if you look really close for him, Oliver Stone‘s classic Platoon. Well, okay, Todd isn’t really playing the character, as he looks like if Barry had gone into the same chamber as Jeff Goldblum in The Fly with his speedster suit. Rather, Todd will be voicing the character, and if you can find a more imposing voice on this planet, or any planets in parallel dimensions, I’d like to hear it. But enough with the words, let’s get to the images.
