THE HATEFUL EIGHT EW Cover Offers First Look at Quentin Tarantino’s Latest

     May 7, 2015

We’ve seen a Hateful Eight behind-the-scenes image courtesy of Samuel L. Jackson, but how about your very first look at Jackson, Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh in costume for the film’s EW cover? The image features Jackson as Major Marquis Warren, a union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, Russell as bounty hunter John Ruth and Leigh as his fugitive, Daisy Domergue. They’re part of a group of “the West’s nastiest gunslingers” forced to seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery during a blizzard.

According to the EW report, The Hateful Eight is packed with squibs and gunshots, but it’s more intimate than Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained. Here’s what Tarantino told the outlet about the production and why it’s similar to Reservoir Dogs:

“For me it has more of a Western Iceman Cometh kind of vibe about it … A bunch of guys in a room who can’t trust each other. That wasn’t a marching order when I sat down to write the script, but pretty quickly I realized this is kind of a nice coming-full-circle.”

Check out The Hateful Eight EW cover below. The film is due in theaters later this year and also stars Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen,Channing Tatum, Demian Bichir, and Bruce Dern.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Hateful Eight:

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…
