THE INTERVIEW Red Band Trailer Reminds You That the Movie Is Actually Hilarious

     December 31, 2014

Funny thing about The Interview, it was never meant to be judged against the international incident and controversy surrounding it.  It was meant to simply come out and be enjoyed by those who were excited to see it because they like these kinds of movies, not people who wanted to see “the movie that Kim Jong Un doesn’t want you to see.”  The movie is a straight up comedy, not a political satire like Dr. Strangelove.  And it works damn well as a comedy.  I saw the movie a few months ago at a screening but decided to take the plunge again on iTunes and I liked it even more the second time.  It’s not for everyone, but if you liked This Is the End, there’s a strong chance you’ll enjoy this one too.

Hit the jump for The Interview Red Band trailer.  The movie stars Seth Rogen, James Franco, Lizzy Caplan and Randall Park and is now in theaters and on VOD.  It’s no longer your patriotic duty to see this movie, it won’t make you a hero.  But I recommend it anyway.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Interview:

In the action-comedy The Interview, Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show “Skylark Tonight.” When they discover that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the two least-qualified men imaginable, to assassinate Kim Jong-un.
