New ‘The Night Before’ Red-Band Trailer Reveals Seth Rogen’s Hilarious Journey

     November 11, 2015

Columbia Pictures has released a new red-band trailer for co-writer/director Jonathan Levine’s (50/50) Christmas comedy The Night Before. The story, which you’ve likely grasped by now, involves three childhood friends, Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Isaac (Seth Rogen), and Chris (Anthony Mackie) who come together for one last debauchery-filled Christmas Eve reunion before officially becoming, er, full-blown adults. In an effort to make this last hurrah as memorable as possible, they set out to find the storied Nutcracka Ball—the mother of all Christmas parties.

As is often the case with films starring Rogen, like the recent Neighbors, the movie looks to be packed with the same sort of outrageous drug-and-sex-centric absurdities. While I’m sure the film will have Levine’s signature sense of emotional nuance, and a strong undercurrent of societal and personal insights to give the laughs some grounding, though the appearance of a dope-peddling Michael Shannon suggests a more surreal journey is in store for audiences this time. The most exciting element of the latest red-band trailer is the now clear involvement of Ilana Glazer, who plays a fan of Mackie’s character who goes on at length about how he makes her “jizz.” The Broad City actress has been ripe for some big-screen action, and this looks like just the project for her to get in on.

Watch the trailer for The Night Before, which opens in theaters on November 25th, below. The film also stars Lizzy Caplan and Mindy Kaling.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Night Before:
