‘The Walking Dead’: New Mid-Season Trailer Further Teases Negan’s Arrival

     January 4, 2016

When it comes to The Walking Dead these days, all the talk of Morgan’s (Lennie James) return and the goat and poor Deanna (Tovah Feldshuh) have ceded to the arrival of a little someone known as Negan, who is set to be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. At the end of the mid-season finale, “Start to Finish,” we got our first tease of Negan’s gang, who rolled up against everyone’s beloved Daryl (Norman Reedus), and a new trailer for the mid-season return of The Walking Dead reiterates the dreaded entrance of a character who, in the source material, is a villain who makes The Governor (David Morrissey) look like a grumpy play date. You can check out the new trailer right below:

The idea of Alexandria was always a cheeky wink at the possibility of life returning to something like what the world was like before the biters came about, which always seemed like a total pipe dream, at least to me. And that’s the mindset that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) seems to be in as we return to the ruin that is Alexandria in season 6, and should make for an interesting mix of philosophies when he finally comes into contact with his ultimate nemesis. Beyond that, this trailer doesn’t really give us much else to anticipate with the return of AMC’s juggernaut series, but it’s a good sign seeing Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) all done up.

More importantly, the return of The Walking Dead is the opening salvo to AMC’s 2016 programming, which includes more than a handful of fascinating series, including Broke, the new series from Dexter writer Clyde Phillips. Bigger than that is the premiere of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s adaptation of the beloved graphic novel series Preacher, which has been getting very positive buzz, as well as Susanne Bier‘s The Night Manager, a John le Carre adaptation featuring the likes of Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie. Bundled with Negan’s entrance, this looks to be a promising year for AMC.

The Walking Dead Season 6 will return to AMC on Sunday, February 14th.
