Liam Neeson and Olivia Wilde to Team Up for Paul Haggis’ THIRD PERSON

     April 4, 2012

Writer/director Paul Haggis has confirmed two of the stars for his upcoming film Third Person. Though the Crash director certainly has his plate full with scripting gigs at the moment, he’s been busy penning another ensemble piece that he plans to direct. The film will take place in three different cities centering on three different couples, and the director confirmed that one of the couples will be played by resident bad ass Liam Neeson and the lovely Olivia Wilde.  Hit the jump for more on the project.

paul-haggis-third-personSpeaking with Vulture, Haggis describes the story thusly:

“It’s about three story lines, three love stories, three relationships in three different cities that combine in a very odd way: New York, Paris, Rome.”

Wilde will be playing a party reporter, but the Million Dollar Baby scribe was remiss to reveal any details regarding Neeson’s character.  He hopes to start shooting Third Person in August, but he won’t be lacking for work in the meantime.  Last summer he signed on to write an adaptation based on Daniel Silva’s spy series character Gabriel Allon, and most recently he was tapped to rewrite the conspiracy drama Umbra for director Martin Campbell. Furthermore, he’s been working on the contemporary thriller Gold with Michael Mann.

Though I haven’t been the biggest fan of his recent material, I quite liked Haggis work on Million Dollar Baby and Casino Royale.  The vignette style is certainly a different take for the director, but it’ll be interesting to see how he fares outside of his comfort zone.  Neeson recently signed on to topline the airplane thriller Non-Stop and will be seen this summer in Battleship. Wilde just wrapped her role in Ron Howard’s period F1 racing drama Rush and will be seen in the dramedy People Like Us this June.
