Thursday TV Ratings: ‘Scandal’ Rises, The CW Sees Dips

The Thursday TV ratings for October 22th are in; here are some of the highlights:

  • I don’t mean to send you into shocks with this news, but the NFL took the night completely on CBS. The game itself, at 8:30 p.m., took in a 3.7, while the 8 p.m. pregame show came in at a 3.1 in the key demos.
  • In terms of scripted programming, however, 8 p.m. was ruled by ABC and Grey’s Anatomy, which saw slight gains to land at a 2.4 with 8.9 million viewers, while Fox came in second with Bones, which nabbed a 1.2 and some 5.9 million viewers.

    Beyond that, NBC’s Heroes Reborn came in with a 1.1 in the same time slot, with 3.7 million viewers, and The Vampire Diaries, on The CW, saw a decline to 0.5 and 1.2 million viewers from last week’s numbers.

  • At 9 p.m., Scandal saw sizable gains to a 2.5, with some 8.2 million viewers, on ABC, while second place went to The Blacklist on NBC, which held steady from last week, with 1.4 in the key demos and 6.5 million viewers. Sleepy Hollow on Fox continued with flat numbers at a 0.8, while The Originals came in with 0.4 and a little under 1 million viewers.
  • Finally, in the 10 p.m. slot, How to Get Away with Murder on ABC came in even with 2.0 in the key demos, taking in some 6.9 million viewers, while The Player, on NBC, took in 0.8 and some 1.4 million viewers.
