HAROLD & KUMAR 3D Director Todd Strauss-Schulson in Talks to Helm FAMILY GETAWAY

     November 10, 2011

Director Todd Strauss-Schulson did a spectacular job with A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, and while the movie didn’t set the box office on fire (I guess audiences were more receptive to having 3D cuddly cats thrown in their face rather than semen) it was a great feature film debut.  Warner Bros. apparently liked the film too because THR is reporting that the studio is in early talks with Strauss-Schulson to direct Family Getaway.  The movie centers on a family who discovers their patriarch is an assassin and must go on a chase to get away from a rival killer.  It sounds like it could be a fun flick (I’m imagining Clark Griswold firing a sub-machine gun), and as THR notes, the road-trip structure is similar to Harold & Kumar.

Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer wrote the initial spec script, and Nick Kasdan worked on the screenplay when he was attached to direct.  Presumably, Strauss-Schulson would also modify the script, or new writers would be hired to make the movie fall in line with his vision.
