tom-hardy-the-revenantFirst up from Schmoes Know is a rumor that has Hardy “in serious talks” to star opposite DiCaprio in The Revenant.  The plot follows an 1820s fronterisman who is mauled by a bear during a fur-trapping expedition, robbed, and left for dead, but recovers and sets out to exact revenge on those who betrayed him.  The project aims to film this September with a planned release in fall of 2015, so we’ll see if Hardy’s schedule accommodates this potential role.

Deadline reports that Huston is the latest addition to The Longest Ride.  Robertson stars as Sophia Danko, the college student who falls for a young cowboy [Eastwood’s Luke Collins] while elsewhere a 91-year-old man [Ira] trapped in a crashed car reflects on the love of his life.  Chaplin also joins the film as a younger version of Ira’s wife, Ruth, who survived WWII and collected paintings with Ira.  Huston will play the younger version of Ira.

Deadline also reports that McGovern and Pryce have joined The Woman in Gold.  The Simon Curtis picture is currently in production on the Alexi Kaye Campbell script that is “based on the true story of a Holocaust survivor who sets out to retrieve family possessions seized by the Nazis, among them Gustav Klimt’s famous painting, ‘The Lady In Gold’. She teams with a plucky young lawyer in a major battle to sue the government.”

Finally from THR is the news that Pierce will join Selma as “Reverend Hosea Williams, one of King’s confidants and lieutenants in the civil rights movement.”  The film focuses on the attempts of black marchers to walk from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, in 1965, in support of gaining voting rights, only to be beaten back by police.
