International Trailer for ‘Trumbo’ Reveals New Scenes with Bryan Cranston

     October 6, 2015

A new international trailer for Jay Roach’s biopic Trumbo reveals a few glimpses at new scenes, but changes up the emotional tone of the film as compared to the previously released trailer. Bryan Cranston stars as Blacklisted and beleaguered screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, but this tale of two trailers suggest slightly different Trumbos: the first trailer portrays the titular writer as a rich man with radical ideas who is then broken down by accusations of being a Communist before he finds screenwriting success again; the new trailer starts off with the hard-luck story of Trumbo before playing up the fight against Congress and the war against censorship. They’re equally enticing and well-edited, I’m just not sure which tack hews closer to the final film.

Trumbo, which opens November 6th, also stars Helen MirrenDiane LaneLouis C.K., Elle Fanning, John GoodmanMichael Stuhlbarg, and Alan Tudyk.

Here’s the official synopsis for Trumbo:

The successful career of 1940s screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) comes to a crushing end when he and other Hollywood figures are blacklisted for their political beliefs. TRUMBO (directed by Jay Roach) tells the story of his fight against the U.S. government and studio bosses in a war over words and freedom, which entangled everyone in Hollywood from Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren) and John Wayne to Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.
