UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING Soundtrack Features Evanescence, Linkin Park and Lacuna Coil

     December 28, 2011

December was the month of epic soundtrack news, with Oscar winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross reuniting for David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and the more recent announcement of The Hunger Games soundtrack, produced by T Bone Burnett and featuring Taylor Swift. While the musical lineup for the fourth installment in the Underworld series is unlikely to garner an Academy Award, the goth-centric soundtrack is sure to be a commercial success, if the trend from the previous movies continues. The Lakeshore Records album will feature 17 tracks of rock/metal songs that fit in lock-step with the dark energy of Underworld: Awakening. Previous contributors that are making a repeat appearance include Lacuna Coil, Black Light Burns and Linkin Park, with Chester Bennington having contributed a solo track on the first album. The soundtrack will be available in stores on January 17th, three days before Underworld: Awakening hits screens. Hit the jump to check out the full soundtrack.

Loudwire announced the soundtrack for Underworld: Awakening which includes fan favorites Evanescence, The Cure and Ministry. Oddly enough, bands from the lighter side of rock (The Naked and Famous and Civil Twilight) will also be featured. Check out the full listing below:

Evanescence – “Made of Stone” (Renholder Remix)
Lacey Sturm – “Heavy Prey” (feat. ex-Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo)
Linkin Park – “Blackout” (Renholder Remix)
The Cure – “Apart” (Renholder Remix)
Stella Katsoudas of Sister Soleil – “Killer & A Queen” (feat. ex-Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo)
Ministry – “Watch Yourself” (Renholder Remix)
Lacuna Coil – “Trip The Darkness” (Ben Weinman Remix)
The Naked and Famous – “Young Blood” (Renholder Remix)
Black Light Burns – “It Rapes All In Its Path“
William Control – “The Posthumous Letter“
Civil Twilights – “How’m I Supposed To Die“
& Sons – “Consolation Prize“
8MM – “Liar” (Revenant mix by 8mm)
Ryan T. Hope – “You Won’t See The Light (feat. ex-Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo)
Combichrist – “Bottle Of Pain“
Collide – “Intruder“
Justin Lassen – “Exit Wounds” (Justin Lassen Remix) (feat. Silent Fury)

I’ll put this lineup up against any soundtrack out there today. Sure, Taylor Swift may walk away with a ton of awards, but at the end of the day, is she hardcore enough to sing a song titled, “It Rapes All In Its Path?” I didn’t think so. Check out the trailer for Underworld: Awakening here and read up on the synopsis below:

“The vampire warrioress Selene, escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.”

Underworld: Awakening starring Kate Beckinsale, Michael Ealy and India Eisley opens in 3D on January 20th.
