viggo-mortensen-captain-fantasticDeadline reports that Mortensen is in talks for Captain Fantastic, in which he’ll play not a superhero, but “an idealistic father who, after a decade of living off the grid in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, must return with his six young kids to assimilate back into society.”  Here’s what Ross had to say about the casting:

“Viggo Mortensen’s dedication to his craft and to the world of the story he’s telling have been an inspiration to me for years. There is a depth to his art that I greatly admire. Any film he’s in is a film I want to see. He’s one of the greats. Getting to collaborate with him on Captain Fantastic is quite literally the best thing that’s happened to me since my wife asked me to marry her.”

Meanwhile, The Wrap reports that Aniston is in early talks for Mean Moms, an adaptation of the Rosalind Wiseman book about competitive parenting in the suburbs.  Wiseman’s book  Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence” was the basis for the hit comedy, Mean Girls, so this new iteration would presumably follow in the same mold.  The movie is not officially greenlit just yet, but the story would follow “a happily married mother of two who moves from a small town to the high class suburbs where she is faced with confronting the cutthroat world of competitive parenting.”  Aniston previously starred in the New Line comedies Horrible Bosses and We’re the Millers.
