Vin Diesel Gives an Update on RIDDICK

     December 22, 2010

It’s been awhile since we’ve received much information in regards to the much-anticipated third Chronicles of Riddick film, simply entitled Riddick.  Back in May, we brought you some concept art as well as a potential synopsis for the film.  However, since then, it’s been all quiet along the Riddick front.  With that in mind, for those of you who are starving for some info on the film, we have an update from Vin Diesel.  Via Facebook, Diesel posted this message:

“So the director of Riddick, my partner on COR since the beginning, DT… has a new challenge in store. He wants me to have 3 different body looks for this next chapter…

There is the DiNorscio type, the Dom type, and the lean Furyan type… but all in the same movie, haha…

When it comes to art, we all like a challenge.”

To partake in a little discussion as to the meaning of this message, hit the jump.  Diesel can next be seen in Fast Five which hits theaters on April 29th, 2011.

vin-diesel-find-me-guilty-imageOf course, the “DT” that Diesel is referring to is David Twohy, the director/co-writer of the first two Riddick films.  As far as the three body types that Diesel mentions, my best guess is that the “DiNorscio type” is in reference to the somewhat slimmer look he took on in 2006’s Find Me Guilty, in which he portrayed mobster Giacomo “Jackie” DiNorscio.

As for the “Furyan” body type, given that Riddick is a native of the now-deceased planet Furya, it seems reasonable to assume that the “Furyan” body type would be similar to what we’ve seen from Diesel in previous iterations of the franchise.  Finally, the “Dom” type refers to Diesel’s character in the Fast & the Furious franchise, Dominic Toretto.

While I can’t tell a huge difference in body compositions between the three characters (they’re all buffer than I am), I’m also far from a body-building expert.  In short, if Diesel thinks that pulling off all three in one film will be a “challenge,” then I’ll take his word for it.  For now, fans of the series can at least rejoice in the fact that Riddick is still at the forefront of Diesel’s Facebook page.

In case you missed the above link, here is the Riddick synopsis we reported on back in May:

Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.
