Just two days after signing on to topline FocusWill Smith seems intent on keeping himself busy, with two films possibly lined up after the grifter pic.  The action star is reportedly considering two projects he’s had on his radar for quite a while, the first of which is the drama American Can, where he’d be taking the role of a “reluctant hero” during the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina for director Edward Zwick (The Last Samurai).  On top of that, there is the possibility that Smith would also star in the thriller The Accountant.  Hit the jump for more.

As for the thriller The Accountant, Smith might be considering the film once again.  He had previously been drawn to the pic when it was still at Warner Bros. and Mel Gibson was set to direct.  The screenplay, which landed writer Bill Dubuque on the 2011’s Black List, tells the story of a government accountant who also works as an assassin.  Gibson is no longer attached to the film and further details are unknown at the time, as Media Rights Capital and Sony have yet to confirm the news.

Of the two projects, Smith is said to be eyeing American Can as possibly his next film after Focus.  He is also developing his potential directing debut, the vampire Biblical epic The Redemption of Cain.  The actor can be seen next in the M. Night Shyamalan-directed After Earth, alongside son Jaden Smith.  The post-apocalyptic adventure film hits theaters July 7th.
