‘Wonder Woman’: First Footage Reveals Gal Gadot in Action as the Iconic Superhero

     January 19, 2016

Tonight’s TV special “DC Films Presents the Dawn of the Justice League” not only unveiled the first trailer for Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated Suicide Squad, but it also revealed the very first footage from director Patty Jenkins’ World War I-set Wonder Woman.

The footage is absolutely gorgeous, and it looks like Jenkins and cinematographer Matthew Jensen are bringing a strong vision to the way the film is shot. What’s more, while origin story films grow tiresome, it’s actually good to see their doing their due diligence with such a legendary comic character who’s yet to get a proper cinematic adaptation. Especially since after introducing her in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it would be easier to follow her through the contemporary narrative rather than go back in time to tell hers properly. Equally exciting is the emphasis the footage puts on her roots as a warrior and leader, two of the qualities that have always set the character apart and established her as a figure of inspiration.

Check out the video below. Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, and Lucy Davis. Wonder Woman opens in theaters on June 23, 2017.
