CHRONICLE Screenwriter Max Landis Planning WONDER WOMAN Pitch for Warner Bros.

     September 11, 2013

Chronicle screenwriter Max Landis has his sights set on a proper superhero movie in the future, if he has anything to say about it.  While the scribe’s draft for Chronicle 2 was not to Fox’s liking (the studio is going a different way on the potential follow-up), he recently revealed that he plans on pitching his own take on Wonder Woman to Warner Bros.  The studio has yet to officially announce a Wonder Woman film as in development, but the standalone feature is clearly in their plans as they make their way towards Justice League following 2015’s Batman vs. Superman.  Hit the jump for more.

wonder-woman-movieWhile Warner Bros. has had many different plans and paths regarding its DC library over the past few years, it’s clear that they would like to make a Wonder Woman movie at some point.  Screenwriter Max Landis was asked on Reddit (via THR) which superhero character he would like to tackle if he had his pick, and he revealed that he plans on pitching WB his own take on the character.

“[I’d like to do] either a version of Green Lantern that played like ET meets Stand By Me using the goth/punk seen and Kyle Raynor, or Wonder-Woman, using a pitch that I intend to make to WB.”

Obviously this is far from official, but it’s interesting to hear that Landis has an idea for a Wonder Woman movie.  Given the glut of male-dominated superhero movies, you’d think WB would be making Wonder Woman more of a priority.  Hopefully something changes soon, whether it’s with Landis’ take or not.
