Newton Haven Invites You to Go on the Golden Mile Pub Crawl for THE WORLD’S END; Comic-Con Presence Announced

     July 1, 2013

In Edgar Wright‘s The World’s End, five childhood friends reunite to conquer Newton Haven’s fabled “Golden Mile”, a crawl across twelve pubs.  A tourism video has been released featuring the Mile, and the dated style is somewhat reminiscent of the U.K. TV series, Look Around You, which was co-written and starred Peter Serafinowicz, who had his Shaun of the Dead director playing a scientist in six of the episodes.  Of course, there is a bit where the happy tourism video gets interrupted by The World’s End footage, but it’s only fair to warn people about the killer robots that inhabit the Golden Mile.

Hit the jump to check out the video, and learn how you might be able to see the movie at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con on July 19th.  The film stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Eddie Marsan, Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman and Rosamund PikeThe World’s End opens August 23rd.

For those attending this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, The World’s End will have its panel in Hall H on Friday, July 19th with Wright, Pegg, and Frost in attendance.  If you follow @TheGoldenMileCC, you can go on a scavenger hunt to find 12 limited edition Golden Mile trading cards, which will give you a chance to see the film following the panel.  Click here to keep up with the film on Facebook.

Here’s the official synopsis for The World’s End:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again.  They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End.  As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s.  Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
