‘X-Men: Apocalypse’: The Villains Strike a Powerful Pose in New Poster [Updated]

     March 8, 2016

20th Century Fox has unveiled a new poster for X-Men: Apocalypse, and it certainly plays up the whole “world-ending” aspect referenced in the title. Bryan Singer returns to direct this Days of Future Past follow-up, which picks up in the year 1983 in a world completely changed by Mystique’s live-on-television actions at the end of DOFP. Mutants have been known to the world at large for a decade, but the resurrection of a centuries-old mutant named Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) brings about the threat of global destruction, as he sets out to put humans in their lowly place with the help of his Four Horsemen.

It’s Apocalypse and his Horsemen that we see on this new poster, and it’s a pretty great look at the formidable team of baddies. Michael Fassbender’s Magneto marks the only returning cast member to join up with Apocalypse and his crew, as he also recruits new characters Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Angel (Ben Hardy), and Psylocke (Olivia Munn). These mutants with their various powers should make for a visually striking adventure, and having visited the Montreal set of the film last year, I can vouch for the fact that the film’s tone evokes both the vibrant pop atmosphere of the 1980s and the darkness of what proves to be the most dangerous X-Men storyline yet.

Check out the poster below, via Yahoo! Movies, followed by some of my set visit coverage which offers an in-depth look at the making of the movie and what to expect. The film also stars James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Evan Peters, Lucas Till, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lana Candor, Rose Byrne, and Josh Helman. X-Men: Apocalypse opens in theaters on May 27th.

Update: Here’s a heroic new addition to the X-Men: Apocalypse poster collection:
