Break out your best Blue Steel. The long-awaited comedy sequel Zoolander 2 doesn’t begin production for another month or two, but that doesn’t mean Ben Stiller is keeping everything under wraps until then. He and Owen Wilson recently showed up in character as Derek and Hansel during Fashion Week in Paris, dropping the first images of the two back in costume after 14 years. Now, even more Zoolander 2 images have landed online from the duo’s time in Paris, and it’s clear they haven’t missed a beat.
We still don’t have any plot details on Zoolander 2, but Stiller is returning to direct, Penelope Cruz has joined the cast, and Will Ferrell and Christine Taylor are expected to return. The first film was a box office disappointment (to be fair, it was released two weeks after 9/11), but it found a large following on home video—remember Blockbuster?—leading to a kind of cult status. It now joins comedies like Anchorman and Wet Hot American Summer that are getting/have gotten follow-ups despite middling box office performance, and here’s hoping it’ll have been worth the long wait.
After years of development and plenty of stops and starts, Paramount Pictures only agreed to move forward with the sequel just last year, and I’m mighty eager to see how Stiller and Co. position the dimwitted Zoolander in a very changed world. For now, bask in the glory of seeing Derek and Hansel holding onto their male model glory in the new Zoolander 2 images below, via Valentino. Zoolander 2 will be released in theaters on February 12, 2016.
